About us

The Panorama of My Silence-Heart is a vegetarian and vegan café, owned and operated by meditation students of Sri Chinmoy.  The café was inaugurated in 2007, and inspired by the philosophy of spiritual teacher, composer, artist and poet Sri Chinmoy, who lived in the Briarwood area from the late 1960s until his passing in 2007.

We strive to create a friendly, warm and peaceful atmosphere, where our customers can enjoy healthy, nutritious and delicious food and drinks to nourish both body and soul.

Although we currently are able to offer take-out and delivery only, we look forward to the time when our customers can come to Panorama for a leisurely coffee, tasty dessert, weekend brunch or to take some time to read, study or use our free WiFi.

Sri Chinmoy

Born in 1931, Sri Chinmoy spent over 20 years in a spiritual community in India before coming to New York in 1964 to share the gift of meditation and inner development with seekers of truth in the West.  He moved to the Jamaica/Briarwood area in the late 1960s and lived here until his passing in 2007.

Through meditation, music, art, literature and athletics, Sri Chinmoy dedicated his life to the goal of world peace. He encouraged his meditation students to practice a healthy and active lifestyle, including a vegetarian diet.
