Favorite Coffeehouse:
Panorama of the Silence-Heart, 84-73 Parsons Blvd., Queens, NY
Step into this jewel of a cafe and prepare to enjoy yourself!
Opened in August 2007, The Panorama of My Silence-Heart boasts not only first class coffee but some of the most delicious vegetarian breakfasts and lunches you will find anywhere. Their savory soups and gourmet sandwiches will linger in your memory for days, likely drawing you back for more.
Unlike many coffee houses where food, is an afterthought, a choice of cheap bagels, biscotti and other packaged “foods”, Panorama offers an assortment of tempting choices. Consider their sandwich menu: A vegetarian pepper-steak with tomato and spinach on a rosemary roll. A regular patron swears by The Chevrole: fresh goat cheese and tomato on an onion panini bread.
They also have several hearty, fresh salads, such as the Napa Valley salad which is romaine lettuce, cranberries, walnuts, mandarin oranges and goat cheese.
Although their latte is truly the best I have ever tasted, they don't stop with just good coffee. They have a well-rounded choice of organic teas too!
But it is the desserts that garner the most passionate following. Their oversized chocolate chip cookies are served warm from the oven. And they serve a vegan triple chocolate mousse cake.
Not only do they offer great food, the ambience is refreshing and charming as well. Owner Ketan Goldman seeks to create an environment where patrons can feel renewed not only physically, but mentally as well. Light cheerful music composed by Indian spiritual philosopher, Sri Chinmoy, is playing in the background. The rear of the cafe is arranged with colorful couches, tables and a stunning photo gallery.
Panorama also boasts an eclectic entertainment line-up. During its opening month, several international music groups performed at the cafe. Ashrita Furman, Guinness World Record Holder and friend of Goldman, recently set 5 new world records at Panorama! Friday nights at 7:30 p.m. episodes of “The Honeymooners” are shown. Future events will include poetry readings, musical performances and children's story readings.
